Physics Department, University of Manchester IPPP

The workshop aims to bring together theorists, phenomenologists and detector and accelerator experts to discuss the feasibility of detecting new phenomena in double diffractive processes including light scalar particles at the Tevatron and LHC. The current status of diffractive production processes at the Tevatron and HERA will be also addressed.
The workshop will be held at the University of Manchester's Chancellors Conference Centre, which provides accomodation, meals and conference facilities on-site.

Topics to be discussed will include:

Double diffractive production cross sections of standard model Higgs, CPX Higgs, Radions and other exotic scalars

Design of proton tagging detectors to deliver required mass resolution for detection of very low mass scalar resonances

Estimation of backgrounds

B tagging efficiencies in current and future central detectors (D0, CDF, Atlas and CMS)

Necessary beam conditions, placement of dipole magnets at Tevatron and LHC and possible windows for construction and installation of proton tagging detectors

Current status of diffractive results at Tevatron and HERA
